Holographic Hot Stamping Foil: Effects, Applications & Selection Tips
What holographic (laser) hot stamping foil is, which effects are available, and where they perform best: wine, cosmetics, tobacco and premium gift packaging.

QUICK ANSWER
Holographic hot stamping foil is a seamless laser-effect foil applied at 90-120 °C. It is used mostly on premium packaging - wine boxes, cosmetic cartons, book covers, food packaging and gift items - where a rainbow shimmer makes the product stand out on the shelf.
01 WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
A holographic foil carries a micro-structured layer that splits light into a rainbow pattern. Unlike a printed image, the effect moves as the package tilts, and our holographic grades are seamless - no visible join lines across the stamped area.
That seam-free structure is why these foils work on large solid areas as well as fine logos and borders. It is the same 12 micron PET carrier as our standard range, so machine settings stay familiar.
02 WHERE IT PERFORMS BEST
Wine and spirits boxes, cosmetics and perfume cartons, book covers and spine details, premium food packaging, cigarette boxes, festive gifts and display cards - these are the scenes where holographic foils do their best work.
03 HOW TO SELECT
What it affects: the visual effect, the substrate it can run on, and your stamping settings. What to check: the pattern style you want (rainbow, fine glitter, glass-shard or plain laser), the substrate, and the smallest detail level in your artwork.
For paper and most rigid plastics, 90-120 °C with a clean release works well. Our holographic range includes gold, silver, magenta sparkle, blue and fine-shimmer variations, and sizes and colors can be customized.
04 TESTING AND CUSTOMIZATION
Because holographic effects are judged by eye, we recommend a sample run before bulk orders. Standard rolls are 64 cm x 120 m; custom widths, sizes and colors are available for volume projects.
05 NEXT STEP
Send us your artwork area, substrate and the pattern style you have in mind, and we will prepare a sample for your press.
